my first review part 1
the first person i am going to write about is Mr Haruhiko Mikimoto or 美樹本晴彦 in kanji. he is the origial character designer of the famous Macross (or Robotech in America and Europe) series.
SDF Macrss
he made his debut with Super Dimensional Fortress Macross or SDF Macross for short. my opinion of the style of his character design is apart from the bad guys and some hot-blooded characters (such as Roy Focker and Capt. Bruno J. Gloval in SDF Macross) are very lovable and they all seem to have a kind and gentle eye sight, characters like Hikaru Ichijyo, Roy Focker, Misa Hayase and Lynn Minmay have become instant fans favorite.
Lynn Minmay
especially Lynn Minmay is one of the biggest if not the biggest virtual idol ever created in the anime industry history along with "super stars" like Chun Li from Street Fighter series, Madoka Ayukawa from Kimagure Orange Road, and Sakura Shinguji from Sakura Taisen.
the release of the movie SDF Macross Do You Remember Love, boosted her popularity more than ever, the scene of she singing to stop the war between humen and the Zentradi (40ft tall male giants)had become a lengendary scene in anime history and the theme song Do You Remember Love (愛・おぼえていますか) by Mari Iijima(Lynn Minmay's voice actor) had become lengendary along with the scene.
but i think where Mr Haruhiko Mikimoto's talent really starts to shine is when he took on the characters design of Mobile Suit Gundam: 0080 War in a Pocket

SDF Macross aired on TV in 1982. it was known for its attactive storyline and complex mechanical design ( its mechanical design Mr Kazutuka Miyatake and Kazumi Fujita are one of my many favorite mecha designers)
SDF Macross Do You Remember Love is released in 1984 as a condensed movie version of the TV series, althrough the storyline of the movie won't go into the TV series
