my online identity and experience part 3
-----------------------------
Since most people have more than one blog or website, they hold a dual role or take part in more than one community. I will use my PSO:BB days again as a example, given that the player is allow to create more than one character, so that character can play a different in the team. For instance my main character also named FlameMaster usually plays a support role in the team with continuous barrage from my rifle and support magic, where as my other character which I can’t remember his/her name plays a berserker in the team, charging right in with swords and machine guns to kill as many things as possible. In extreme cases a person can create different personality on different forum and message board maybe under user name (even IPs).
Internet nowadays is pretty much like a virtual world, since a lot of things you could do in the real world could be done on the internet. Things like can shopping, chatting, video conversation and even running a business can be done on the internet. As the technology develops internet connection have be come cheaper and quicker, and the quality of video sharing have also improved, drawing people closer from all over the globe together in one community. For example http://www.2advanced.com/ is a flash showcase website that runs their business and portfolio, which also organized a community with real people running real business with real money. I highly recommend to everyone who read this blog to take a look at this site. BBC has also organized a lot website with virtual idols they have created such as Jamie Kane and many others. These sites are mainly aim at attracting teenager (mainly girls), it has an online game on the site which people can sign up and play, it also include other stuff such as site description and downloads. The game will lead them to the virtual community which is control by computer and since the game is like mails tag it normally should keep people playing for quite a few weeks.
I believe blogging has huge potential to be the main road for someone to express themselves on the internet, and as technology increase sound and video can be added the blog more easily and smoothly with more quality, a virtual self of a person can be formed on the internet. And I believe that day isn’t far away from us, although I wouldn’t like it to happen, because I don’t like leaking away too much information at least not on the internet where information can be spread all over the earth in matters of seconds. Personally I don’t like the idea of blogs because is too much like a dairy or a journal and I don’t like writing dairies or journals and yet I got a blog, it shows even I accept as true having a blog is very important, well at least in the creative industry it is.

my online identity and experience part 2
--------------------------
To be fair I never had to adjust my personality for anyone in my life or any thing, and I never hide my emotions. I always have been a passionate person, especially on things and subjects I enjoy. On the internet I am no different; I represent myself as an enthusiastic person, I like letting people to know how I feel and I tried express that in my blog and website, although so far I only get to write about my academic subjects. The only thing that I tried to retain myself from is my “take my opponent directly head on” approach and mentality on online games, because no one likes someone who just charges straight in and dies straight always, especially on games like Counter Strike (CS), Counter Strike Source (CSS), or some MMORPGs where is very easy get killed or surrounded.
I believe many people are like me, in terms of expressing themselves directly on internet through webcams, messengers and photo sharing. Places like http://www.shoutwire.com/ and http://www.youtube.com/ allows user to share articles and videos perceptively and let other user to comment on it which usually lead to a discussion. Most people have a blog or a website like on something like myspace to share their thoughts and photos to their friend or other people.

my online identity and experience part 1
------------------------------------
The internet has advanced a lot in recent years, and now it has become an indispensable form of media. People can easily communicate to others, who are thousand miles away from them, neither via webcam, emails or messenger program. As the internet advances, other media use it to their advantage to develop. A primary example would be the game industry, since the Sega Dreamcast starting to have online capability all of the other video game console followed its example, now internet connection and games are almost inseparable. Although thing like online games, online shopping, web blogs even photo sharing would have never been so popular when it was a few years ago when everyone only had a slow speed 56k connection.
And different community have build up between these different media. Now almost all games whether is online or not have a website and more than likely they their own forum on the website. Some players even setup clans and guilds within popular online games such as World of Warcraft and Counter Strike Source, to from a closer more intimate community. In this assignment I will write about my personal experience with these communities.
First of all a few years back I used to play Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst (PSO: BB) very often. I was quite active on the PSO World forum (PSO World is a of many PSO’s fan site), under the user name Flame_Master. I have not found many people share the same interest as me, at least not in a games forum. I noticed that might because of most people on that forum are Americans and so it might come to a culture shock for me in term of interest. And I also realized not many people read the forum rules, which irritate the moderator a lot. I also made my own website on the Football Manager game series to spread my “accomplishment” on the game, but I haven’t updated that for a long time mainly due to the amount of work and problem I had.
